Responsibilities:
Financial Operations:
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, bookkeeping, and providing input for budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management within the gaming sector.
Monitor financial performance of gaming-related investments, identifying opportunities for improvement or risk mitigation in areas such as game development costs, monetization models, and esports operations.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards in gaming, with particular focus on the evolving landscape of blockchain gaming, in-game economies, and virtual assets.
Supervise and/or participate in petty cash accounting, ensuring disbursements, reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls within gaming operations.
Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate information and compliance with gaming industry-specific accounting standards.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare comprehensive financial reports, statements, and forecasts for management, shareholders, and regulatory bodies, with a focus on gaming ventures and projects.
Deliver financial statements (annually) and management reports (monthly), including income statements, balance sheets (fully supported by schedules), and cash flow for gaming-related entities. Provide commentary on financial performance and future projections, focusing on game launch timelines, revenue models, and in-game asset transactions.
Proficiency in accounting for prepayments, identifying capitalizable costs associated with game development, and accurately accruing expenses related to in-game purchases, NFTs, and digital asset transactions.
Strong understanding of industry standards, including GAAP, IFRS, and the regulatory framework governing gaming, particularly in regions with evolving virtual asset legislation.
Development:
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting accountability and excellence across teams involved in game development, esports, and blockchain gaming projects.
Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between finance, game development, marketing, and operations to achieve organizational objectives within the gaming sector.
Assist the Finance Manager with ad-hoc reports and day-to-day financial tasks, focusing on game development budgets, revenue forecasts, and financial modeling for gaming projects.
Stay updated on trends in the gaming industry, including emerging blockchain gaming technologies, the adoption of NFTs in gaming, and new regulatory changes affecting the sector.
Other Activities:
Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reviews as required, with a specific focus on gaming investments, in-game economies, esports sponsorships, and the integration of Web3 technologies into games.
Support additional activities assigned by the Finance Manager, particularly those related to the firm’s gaming portfolio.
Requirements:
University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Prior experience or strong knowledge of the gaming industry is a must, especially in areas like game development, esports, and the integration of blockchain and Web3 technologies into games.
Proficiency in accounting software, MS Office Suite, and financial modeling tools, with a focus on financial analysis for gaming companies.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to the dynamic gaming industry.
Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CMA, CPA) are preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an accountant for a holding group, particularly with subsidiaries in the gaming industry across multiple jurisdictions.
